HAVERTOWN, PA — August 13, 2026. As families across the region prepare for a new school year, the rising cost of everyday necessities is creating an added challenge for parents and caregivers already working hard to make ends meet. For many children, having the right backpack and school supplies can make a meaningful difference in starting the year feeling prepared, confident, and ready to learn.
Recognizing that every child deserves the opportunity to begin the school year with the tools they need to succeed, Child Guidance Resource Centers (CGRC) is once again bringing its CARE initiative, Children’s Access to Resources and Essentials, to families in the communities it serves.
This year, CGRC is proud to join forces with three community-minded partners: The Rotary Club of Media, JDV Electric and Cradles to Crayons, to provide backpacks and essential school supplies to children and families through CGRC’s Backpack Giveaway.
The initiative will support CGRC clients at two locations:
- 2901 Island Avenue, Philadelphia on Friday, August 21st between 11:00 am – 1:00 pm and 3:00 – 5:00 pm.
- 2000 Old West Chester Pike, Havertown on Tuesday, August 25th between 11:00 am – 1:00 pm and 3:00 – 5:00 pm
Together, these partners are helping ensure that children begin the 2026–27 school year equipped with essential supplies and the confidence that comes from knowing their community is behind them. For families facing financial pressures, a backpack filled with school essentials is more than a collection of supplies; it is a meaningful investment in a child’s education, well-being and future.
By partnering with The Rotary Club of Media, we are expanding support to include clothing for our Delaware County clients, so our students begin the school year confidently, prepared, and ready to learn.
As CGRC continues its mission of strengthening mental health, promoting wellness, and connecting children and families with the resources they need, the organization recognizes that supporting a child’s well-being begins with meeting the whole child, including the everyday essentials that help them feel ready to participate, learn, and succeed.
