There’s something special about fall. The changing leaves, cooler days, back-to-school routines, and familiar traditions remind us to slow down, reconnect, and make time for the people and communities that matter most.
For Child Guidance Resource Centers (CGRC), this fall is especially meaningful as we celebrate our 70th Anniversary!
For seven decades, CGRC has been helping children, families, and vulnerable adults find support, strengthen their mental health, and discover pathways toward healing and hope. As we celebrate this milestone, we are grateful for the families we serve, our dedicated employees, community partners, supporters, and everyone who has been part of our 70-year journey.
September: Connection, Awareness and Hope
September is National Suicide Prevention Month, reminding us that a simple conversation can make a difference. Take a moment to check in with someone you care about and ask, “How are you really doing?”
Remember 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Anyone experiencing a mental health or emotional crisis can call or text 988 for free, confidential support, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Save it. Share it. Talk about it.
September also marks National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15–October 15), a time to celebrate Hispanic and Latino cultures, histories, traditions, and contributions.
And on September 10, CGRC celebrates 70 years of service, a milestone made possible by generations of people committed to strengthening mental health and building healthier communities.
October: Creating Communities Where Everyone Belongs
October is National Bullying Prevention Month, an important reminder that every child deserves to feel safe, respected, included, and valued.
Bullying can have a lasting impact on a young person’s confidence and emotional well-being. Parents, caregivers, educators, and young people all have a role to play in creating environments where kindness and inclusion are stronger than exclusion or intimidation.
Ask yourself:
- Who might need a little extra support?
- Who can I include?
- How can I help someone feel that they belong?
October also brings World Mental Health Day on October 10, National Coming Out Day on October 11, Indigenous Peoples’ Day on October 12, and the conclusion of National Hispanic Heritage Month on October 15.
These observances remind us that our communities are strongest when we celebrate our differences and make space for everyone.
Let’s Make This Fall a Season of Connection
As the leaves change, let’s make a commitment to connect with our children, our families, our neighbors, and ourselves. Check in. Listen. Celebrate. Include. Encourage.
And as CGRC celebrates 70 years of inspiring healing and hope, we invite you to join us in looking back with gratitude and forward with optimism.
Because connection creates belonging. Belonging creates hope. And together, we can build healthier communities for everyone.
